Otomatik Ejector Pin redresman solisyon

Mould ejector pins are slender, finished components that slide repeatedly through closely fitted guide holes. A bent pin can increase friction, jam during ejection or damage the pin and mould. Straightening is therefore not only a question of pushing a rod until it looks straight. The process must preserve the guide surface, control the measurement datum and distinguish true bend from self-weight and probe-force effects.

An automatic ejector pin straightening solution is developed from the drawing, wout fabrikasyon, representative samples and the customer's final gauge. It does not assign one material, dite, tolerance or cycle time to every ejector pin.

Ejector Pins Are a Diverse Workpiece Family

The available project photo shows three real slender pin-type parts with different lengths, diameters and head details. Visible annotations identify approximately Ø2.44 × 150 mm, Ø4.04 × 135 mm and Ø2.29 × 95 mm. These labels help define a sample range; they are not a measurement report or a universal machine specification.

Three slender mould ejector pins with different annotated diameters and lengths

Official mould-component suppliers list straight and offset ejector pins, ejector sleeves, ventilation pins, blade ejectors and core pins. Materials and surfaces can include hot-work steel, high-speed steel, asye pur, through-hardening, nitriding, oxidation treatment and DLC coating. The process window must therefore be developed for the real variant rather than a generic “ejector pin.”

Self-Weight and Probe Force Must Be Part of the Measurement Model

A horizontally supported ejector pin still deflects under gravity. The amount depends strongly on diameter and unsupported span. Moving the supports, adding intermediate support or changing the head orientation can change the measured curve even though the workpiece has not changed.

A contact probe also applies force. On a very thin pin, excessive measuring force can bend the part during inspection and create a false high or low point. A credible measurement plan therefore defines:

  • the support or locating datum and free span;
  • whether the head is included in the datum or allowed to overhang;
  • fòs sonde ki ba ak repete;
  • approved axial measuring positions;
  • rotational orientation and sampling density;
  • compensation or correlation for repeatable elastic deflection;
  • the relationship between the machine reading and the customer's final gauge.

The goal is not to claim that gravity has been eliminated. The goal is to make its effect controlled, repeatable and small enough for the agreed acceptance decision.

Dwat, Runout and Concentricity Are Not Interchangeable

KarakteristikMeaningProject definition needed
DwatDeviation of a line or surface element from an ideal straight lineControlled length and evaluation method
Radial runoutSurface variation during rotation about a datum axisDatum, pozisyon sonde ak echantiyon angilè

KonsantrisiteRelationship between derived axes or centresDrawing definition and a capable measurement method

The earlier article used straightness, runout and concentricity as if they were one value. In the new process, the commercial acceptance criterion is only the characteristic named on the drawing and reproduced by an agreed gauge.

1. Identify and load the correct variant

The operator or handling system loads the pin without dropping, scratching or bending it. Variant identification selects the approved supports, mezi pozisyon, press limits and recipe. Automatic feeding is added only after real parts pass separation and orientation trials.

2. Establish the inspection datum

The pin is located by approved shaft zones, centres, a head/shoulder reference or dedicated fixtures. Supports must not clamp the part into an artificially straight condition. For small diameters, the free span is minimized or explicitly included in the measurement model.

3. Measure with controlled force

The pin rotates or indexes while a low-force sensor collects readings at defined positions. The system records the incoming curve and separates repeatable head, groove or surface signals from centreline bend.

Contact measurement station checking a slender ejector pin

The image above is a frame from the public project video. It confirms the demonstrated contact measurement station and slender round workpiece. It does not establish sensor resolution, probe force or final accuracy.

4. Select support span and correction point

The controller selects an approved support span and press location. The drawing and tooling design exclude the head transition, finished tip, vent features and any surface where contact is prohibited.

5. Apply a limited point correction

The press applies controlled displacement or force. Small-diameter, hardened and coated pins require staged correction with maximum force, stroke and iteration limits. A single heavy press is not used as a generic strategy.

6. Remeasure using the same setup

Apre chak koreksyon, the part is measured again without changing the datum or support logic. Another correction is permitted only when the residual error remains outside the validated process window.

7. Verify surface and geometry

The final machine result is compared with the drawing-specific rule. Surface inspection, crack inspection or functional fit checks are included when required by the material, coating and customer quality plan. Accepted and rejected parts can be separated automatically when that function is part of the ordered configuration.

Real Ejector Pin Straightening Video

The following public video shows a real slender pin at a rotational holding, contact measurement and correction station. It supports the application and visible process sequence. It does not prove the previously published 0.05 rezilta mm, 15-second cycle, sede, customer identity or surface condition.

Surface Protection and Correction Risk

Nitrure, through-hardened, HSS and coated ejector pins do not share one correction window. Tooling must be selected from the real surface and permitted contact zones.

RiskKontwòl
Support or punch markMatch tool radius/profile, limit contact pressure and inspect the agreed surface
Krak apre koreksyonLimit incoming bend, stage correction and add the required crack-inspection method
Domaj kouchUse approved contact materials and validate on coated production-equivalent samples
False reading from a head or grooveMeasure only approved zones or use a validated profile-specific method
Elastic deflection mistaken for bendControl free span, probe force and orientation; correlate with the final gauge
Part leaves the fixture during rotationValidate chuck/centre force without deforming or marking the pin

“No damage” is an acceptance requirement demonstrated by inspection. It is not a generic property that can be promised from a machine video.

Point Straightening or Roll Straightening?

Neither process should be selected from a slogan.

ConditionPwen koreksyon ka pi pito lèRoll straightening may be evaluated when
Bend distribisyonLocal bend locations can be measured and corrected individuallyThe workpiece has distributed curvature suited to continuous correction
Surface/contactDefined support and punch zones are acceptableContinuous roller contact is permitted by the surface specification
JeyometriHead and steps can be cleared by dedicated fixturesThe usable shaft is sufficiently uniform for the roller arrangement
ValidasyonClosed-loop measurement and correction limits are requiredProcess trials show acceptable geometry and surface condition

The final decision follows sample results, not the assumption that all roller contact damages nitriding or that point pressing is always safer.

Different diameters and lengths may require physical tooling changes, not only a software recipe. The proposal must define the validated family, changeover method and checks that prevent the wrong tool/recipe combination.

Kesyon yo poze souvan

Does a horizontal layout eliminate gravity error?

Non. A slender pin supported horizontally still sags. The solution controls the free span, pozisyon sipò yo, probe force and orientation, then correlates the machine reading with the agreed final gauge.

Can nitrided ejector pins be straightened without surface damage?

Potansyèlman, but only after tooling and correction limits are validated on production-equivalent samples. The surface requirement, inspection method and acceptable contact zones must be defined before a guarantee is made.

Èske 0.05 mm straightness the same as 0.05 mm runout?

Non. Straightness does not automatically use a rotation datum; runout does. The drawing, done, measuring position and evaluation method must identify the required characteristic.

Can one recipe cover several diameters and lengths?

Only within a validated family. Sipò, lokalizatè, probe position and punch may require physical changeover. Software selection cannot compensate for unsuitable tooling or excessive free span.

What evidence is needed before production approval?

Nan minimòm: revizyon desen, representative sample set, incoming/final measurements, korelasyon machin-a-kliyan-kalib, correction history, surface inspection and a repeatability/capability study appropriate to the customer's quality plan.
